As global security dynamics continue to evolve, Poland is actively seeking to bolster its defense ties with the United States, with a particular focus on establishing a permanent U.S. military presence within its borders. This ambition was underscored by Polish President Karol Nawrocki during his recent visit to New York for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump, Nawrocki emphasized the significance of enhancing military collaboration, citing ongoing negotiations regarding U.S. defense equipment deliveries to Poland. He stated that such cooperation is central to Poland’s efforts to strengthen its security posture and its role within NATO.
Nawrocki highlighted that both nations are engaging in talks to accelerate potential contracts and investment projects involving American defense companies. He noted that President Trump has shown support for augmenting the long-term U.S. military presence in Poland, a move that Nawrocki believes would deepen their strategic partnership.
Further discussions between Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth are anticipated to push these military initiatives forward. Nawrocki’s agenda also includes Poland’s aspirations to secure a permanent seat in the G20, aiming to garner support through dialogues with various international governments, including the African Union.
During his address at the UN General Assembly, Nawrocki planned to discuss Poland’s security concerns, demographic challenges, and global crises, alongside advocating for the protection of Christians worldwide. These efforts reflect Poland’s broader strategy to solidify its international standing and security partnerships amid an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.
