With the eighth pick in the first round, the Toronto Blue Jays selected JoJo Parker, a standout both offensively and on the mound. At 18, Parker has already made Purvis High history as the highest-selected player from the school.
Parker dominated his senior season, boasting a .489 average, 13 home runs, 64 runs scored, and 35 RBIs. He added 30 stolen bases to his resume, key in driving his team to state finals.
As a pitcher, he managed an impressive 8-2 record, striking out 89 in 55.2 innings with a 2.77 ERA.
Although currently committed to Mississippi State University, Parker is now firmly in Toronto’s sights as a future franchise piece.
