President Karol Nawrocki has submitted a legislative proposal to extend the ban on selling properties from the Agricultural Property Stock of the State Treasury for another ten years. The current moratorium, which was put in place in 2016, is set to expire in 2026. The new bill seeks to prolong this prohibition, along with the requirement for ministerial consent for certain property sales, to help protect Polish agriculture.
The proposal also amends the preamble to the Act on Shaping the Agricultural System. The new text emphasizes a sense of “special responsibility” for the future of Polish agriculture and the food security of citizens, citing “deepening economic difficulties in Europe” and the “growing threats from the influx of agricultural products from outside the European Union.”
