Orbán Accuses Tusk of Using Anti-Hungary Rhetoric to Distract from Domestic Troubles

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has sharply criticized Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, claiming that Tusk’s recent remarks against Hungary stem from internal political struggles. In a post on X.com, Orbán said Tusk’s government is “unstable,” citing his party’s defeat in the presidential election and declining public support. He accused the Polish leader of launching attacks on Hungary to divert attention from domestic challenges.
Orbán’s comments followed his meeting in Budapest with former Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, who is facing legal action initiated by Tusk’s government. The Hungarian leader alleged that the Polish administration has begun a “political witch hunt” against the right-wing opposition following the presidential election results.
Continuing his criticism, Orbán accused Tusk and European People’s Party leader Manfred Weber of being “warmongers” whose policies on Ukraine have failed. He asserted that Hungary remains committed to a “path of peace” and will not become “a vassal of Brussels.” Orbán concluded by calling on Tusk to respect Hungary’s independent stance and “mind his own business.”
